DW awards set shortlist from 1000 entries

The Partners, Turner Duckworth, The Identica Partnership and Elmwood are among the 30 graphics finalists for the 1997 Design Week Awards, with FLB, Nucleus and Lewis Moberly featuring on the packaging shortlist.

Product design – divided into consumer and industrial product sections this year – has, among others, Pearson Matthews, DCA, Queensberry Hunt Levien and US consultancy Lunar Design in the frame. Meanwhile, interiors hopefuls include Harper Mackay, RPA Europe and Din Associates, while Fred Scott and Geoff Hollington rank among the furniture contenders.

Multimedia – divided into Website design and TV graphics – yielded a bumper crop this year, with Baxter Hobbins Sides, Tutssels and Fitch among those still in with a chance of a top prize.

The shortlists were picked from almost 1000 entries across 18 categories by a team of 20 judges led by Body Shop design head Jon Turner. Final results will be announced at a dinner at London’s Natural History Museum on Wednesday 5 March and all shortlisted entries will be published in a full-colour “book”.
