UK maintains good record at US awards

British design groups were allocated an encouraging five awards out of the 19 presented for packaging design at the 26th Mobius Advertising Awards in the US.

Dominating the British winners was Pearlfisher with three first place awards. An ice cream range scooped Pearlfisher an award, as did its Tea Party Collection. The group’s Society Hampers packaging also won a prize.

Elmwood won two first prizes, one for Rusty Rivet Beer for Asda and the other for its own corporate book. Miller Sutherland and Conran jointly won the bath products category for a range of Conran Shop packaging.

Australia and New Zealand won a significantly increased number of awards this year. The executive director of the awards, Patricia Meyer, commented: “The creative talents in Australia and New Zealand have risen steadily over the past few years. They now have surpassed those of all other nations outside of the US.”

Blackburn’s has won the best packaging title in the Europe-wide EPICA awards for its work on Gleneagles mineral water.
