The Design Council is looking for design industry representatives to be in a parliamentary group to increase the understanding of design and innovation within the political and industrial communities.

The group is likely to go live in October.

It will exist independently of the Government and will bring together Members of Parliament and peers from across the political spectrum, business people and design industry members. The group will not be accountable to the Government.

Design Council public affairs director Martin Brown says he has approached a number of designers in connection with the group and is open to approaches from interested parties.

“We are still in the very early stages and don’t know how many people we need, or what exactly is on offer to them in terms of involvement. But if anyone wants to drop me a line, I’d be interested to hear,” says Brown.
