Trial outlet for Indian guinea pig restaurant

A new Indian restaurant, using interiors developed by restaurant design group David Collins Associates, is to open a pilot outlet for a potential chain.

If successful, the format for Pukkabar, which opens next week in Sydenham, south London, will be developed for further sites, a restaurant spokesman says. The chain will be courting controversy by serving guinea pig balti.

Pukkabar is the latest project from Trevor Gulliver, the man behind the St John Restaurant in London’s Clerkenwell, The Fire Station in Waterloo and the Putney Bridge River Restaurant. Gulliver himself created the identity and signage for Pukkabar.
