The industrial design team at Xyratex has created the R9000, a new RAID storage subsystem that’s ideal for designers who want to add large amounts of storage to an existing computer system. The in-house team tried to `make the product transparent to everyday working procedures’, according to designer John Haley. It is the first in a series of computer products based on the image of a tower. Xyratex was known as IBM Havant until a management buyout last year.
