Trailfinders to Brum

The Glasgow School of Art has selected this table, designed by final-year product student Jon Stevenson, from six designs created as a memorial to influential Glasgow politician Norman Buchan. His wife, Janey Buchan, commissioned the college to create a piece celebrating the life of the late Labour MP. The piece will be presented to the City of Glasgow.

Trailfinders, the long-haul and bespoke holiday planning operator, has opened a new branch in Birmingham. The shop interior was designed by Adam Rawls Associates.

The Birmingham shop, which is being monitored by the seven-strong chain, is seen “as the first of a second generation of new designs being tried”, says consultancy director Adam Rawls. “The interiors concept is based on the linear design of an aeroplane. The main retail area is framed by a canopy suspended from the ceiling in the shape of an aircraft wing, housing downlighters which are themselves reminiscent of runway lights,” he adds.

The Trailfinders brand identity has been retained. The consultancy has previously designed interiors for the Bristol, Manchester and Glasgow outlets as well as a site in Cairns, Australia.
