Wales honours bilingual design

The Welsh Language Board has launched the first ever Bilingual Design Awards in Wales, in an effort to promote and celebrate the best in bilingual design.

Divided into five different categories – advertising, promotion, food and drink packaging, signage and digital media – the competition is open to organisations throughout the UK which have commissioned or created bilingual design work.

A Bilingual Design Awards spokesman says: “The awards’ main aim is to promote excellence, quality and the creativity of designers in Wales, encourage public, private and voluntary organisations to commission and support excellent bilingual design work and to raise the public profile of the increase in bilingual design in Wales.”

Entrants must submit work by 2 June and winners will be announced at the beginning of August, before being exhibited in the Arts and Crafts Pavilion at the National Eisteddfod in Llanelli.

A booklet featuring all the winning entries will also be distributed throughout Wales.
