Two of Travelbag’s three sites have been revamped by First Partnership, its flagship store opening in London’s Piccadilly last week. The consultancy created new interiors, while retaining the existing identity. The interior concept is ‘based on natural earth colours and materials, as it’s designed to appeal to people who want to spend two or three hours discussing their trip. It is a different experience to other high street travel shops,’ says Jonathan Blakeney, director of the London consultancy.

Travelbag competes with the higher profile Trailfinders agent, with an average customer age of 45. The store has been visually divided into four sections, to reflect Travelbag’s specialist areas of Australasia, North America, Africa and Asia. ‘Each area has an individual personality, reflecting the feel of that part of the world,’ says Blakeney. The three-floor, 100m2 flagship claims to be the biggest travel shop in Europe. Travelbag plans to open at least ten more sites over the next five years.
