The Royal Mail is issuing a set of stamps depicting insects and creatures found in and around ponds. Designed by John Gibbs, the set features the Common Frog, the Great Diving Beetle, the Three-Spined Stickleback and the Southern Hawker Dragonfly and is issued on 10 July. ‘The quality of photography by Frank Greenaway on the pondlife issue is exceptional and encapsulates our fascination with ponds,’ says Royal Mail stamps and collectibles managing director Mark Thomson. The theme of pond life was chosen as a contribution to this year’s Europa stamp theme of Water and Natural Resources.
