Putting the D&AD Awards story straight

Just for the record folks, I would like to clarify a couple of points with regard to your VoxPop about the 2000 D&AD Awards (DW 12 May).

Your article refers to reports that British Design & Art Direction is not giving any awards in print advertising, including posters this year.

It is true that this year’s print advertising juries did not give any nominations in the press advertising and art direction categories (although plenty of work has been selected for the book: 26 in press, including Stella Artois; 13 in art direction).

There is, however, a good showing in the poster category with the judges making six nominations: three to Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO for Guinness Extra Cold, two to Ammirati Puris Lintas for the Flora London Marathon ads, and one to GSD&M’s Concerts in the Parkí for Zilker Park.

But those in the industry must wait until the awards ceremony on 24 May to find out who has received a D&AD Silver prize.
