Two rescue aids selected as Millennium Products winners

The Government announced the first four winners in the Design Council-run Millennium Products initiative, on BBC’s Tomorrow’s World last night. All products were designed in-house.

RFD’s Marin-Ark evacuates people down a telescopic chute, from an oil rig or ship to a life raft, at a rate of one person every two seconds (pictured).

Skystreme, a radar-reflective “visual marker”, aids outdoor rescue, and Gorix is a material which heats up uniformly when electric power is applied.

Atom Animation’s AniBod is an animated mannequin on to which images of a face can be projected.

From 23-27 February the Design Council will hold an exhibition in the House of Commons highlighting the Millennium Products initiative.
