Stayte joins Alsop’s graphics team

Alsop Architects has appointed Richard Stayte as director of its graphics division A, it has emerged this week, as the practice continues its drive into non-architectural areas.

Stayte, who confirms he will start his new job on 1 March, joins from Conran Design Group, where he was 2D design director.

According to an Alsop Architects spokesman, he has been tasked with ‘building the group’s portfolio in graphic, animation and exhibition design, along with business identities’.

The practice, renowned for its award-winning Peckham Library and controversial plans for Liverpool’s Fourth Grace, announced in December that it is planning to launch a homewares range in April (DW 04 December).

CDG managing director David Worthington says the group will replace Stayte and is close to making an external appointment. He denied there would be further changes to the CDG team, but says an internal promotion is imminent.
