Pre-Budget concerns

As Design Week went to press the design industry waited to see if Chancellor Gordon Brown carried through with his Budget blueprint proposal to cap wage inflation.

At the time of the blueprint in November, some in the design industry expressed concern that the top end of various sectors could be affected by the price cap. Branding and web design were seen as the most likely areas for capping (DW 21 November 1997).
