VW complex plans diner

Volkswagen’s Autostadt complex in Wolfsburg, Germany, is to house a restaurant and wine bar, Chardonnay, from next month.

London group United Designers has developed interiors for the venue, within the German car giant’s development of futuristic buildings, water and parkland. The restaurant will accommodate 100 diners, with additional seating on a terrace and in a wine bar.

Carpeted floors create a formal atmosphere with furniture from United Designers in burgundy, plum and mustard colours. “The opulence is intended to augment the richness of the Chardonnay cuisine,” says creative director Linzi Coppick. “Set against these deep and dramatic hues is a double contrast of earthy walnut panels and metallic chrome details.”
