SHOWTIME, a US national film channel on cable, has launched a promotional package for a new weekly double-bill special, designed by New York’s Beehive.

The special, called Back 2 Back, will feature two thematically linked films which share the same genre, actor or director.

Showtime producer Tony Castellano says: “We needed an opening sequence which was contemporary and dynamic, but also appropriate for a wide range of movie types and themes.”

“I used the logo and the typography as a starting point for the design,” says Beehive partner and graphic designer Ada Whitney.

The animated open represents the evening’s theme; be it drama, action, horror or comedy. New themes can be added to the open as the weekly specials take off.

The package will be on air from mid-June, before and between the double bill.

A ringmaster and other circus entertainers are used in the promotional material for brokerage firm Piper Jaffray’s annual conference. New York cartoonist Geoffrey Moss teamed up with illustrator Brent Marmo to create the six drawings. The theme The Big Show is carried through to mini posters, brochures and posters. Kick-off was on 3 June and further conferences are scheduled.
