Compact Sunday paper shows the way forward
I read your report about the Independent on Sunday going tabloid (DW 13 October) – and not before time too. Only last Sunday I was searching the newsagents for a manageable read that wasn’t too low-brow, but to no avail. But the claim that it is the UK’s first compact Sunday paper isn’t strictly accurate.
Does anyone remember the Sunday Correspondent from 1990? The launch of a ‘quality tabloid’ was unheard of and a good idea (and a good paper too) sunk without trace. It was clearly way ahead of its time.
