NWD in good health with Clinic deal

AIM-listed marketing services group, NWD, has snapped up design consultancy Clinic, in a £2.4m deal.

Clinic, which includes design groups Small Japanese Soldier, I-clinic and Two Hats, says the acquisition will bolster its growth plans and provide opportunities to work across NWD’s group, including six other communication companies.

Clinic works with clients Virgin, BSkyB, Superdrug, ITV and Electronic Arts. It turned over £4.2m in the year to March 2004.

Clinic marketing director Mark Nicholls says, ‘This was a good time for us to sell, providing the best opportunity for growth. We look forward to taking advantage of the group structure, collaborating with other companies.’

Clinic will continue to work under the same name and says it will recruit more staff as the business grows. Nicholls adds, ‘NWD is fairly hands-off and we will continue to run our own ship.’

NWD remains acquisitive following its purchase of four businesses in December last year. Through buying Clinic, the company aims to fulfill its strategy to create an alternative model for the creative marketing services sector.
