Scottish Parliament enlists Format

Norwich-based Format Design has been appointed to create print material and Web applications for The Scottish Parliament for the next five years, in what is believed to be a six-figure contract for the consultancy.

Format was appointed following an 18-month tendering process to create print material ranging from annual reports and brochures to stationery, Christmas cards and parliamentary publications.

The Scottish Parliament already has a website – www.scottish. parliament.uk. However, Format managing director Jane Chittenden explains that Web communications are included in the consultancy’s brief.

The news comes as the Parliament prepares to move into its permanent home at Holyrood next month, after having been housed in temporary accommodation for the past five years.

Designed by Spanish architect Enric Miralles shortly before his death in 2000 and realised jointly by Miralles’ Barcelona practice EMBT and Scottish architectural practice RMJM, the building has cost £431m to date.
