Virgin Clothing axes store plan

A used car showroom concept targeting women is being trialed in Poole, Dorset. The interiors for Lex Autosales are the work of London theatre specialist James Glancy Design.

James Glancy has replaced the usual black and grey interiors with shades of green, orange and blue. Sofas and table and chair groupings are intended to suggest an upmarket hotel reception. The showroom also has a crèche, featuring a mural, and themed toilets.

“The space is non-threatening and… has been designed to promote talking points,” says a James Glancy spokesman.

Lex Autosales sales director Tony Noakes plans several new sites using the concept, and may convert three existing sites.
