The forthcoming 10bn demerger of the Hanson group has thrown up three new identities.

Energy, chemicals and tobacco companies – three of Hanson’s core businesses – will be floated from October, thereby breaking up the UK’s largest conglomerate.

The Identica Partnership has designed the identity for Energy, Bristol-based Village Design Group has created a corporate image for Imperial Tobacco Group, while the identity for Millennium Chemicals has been designed in-house.

The Identica-designed logo will be retained when the company has floated, but it is believed the Energy name could change. The Imperial Tobacco Group name and identity are permanent and will continue to be used after the float, says Village creative director Paul Martin.
