DCMS sports a sophisticated look with Iris report

Iris has designed the Department for Culture, Media and Sport annual report, which will be published next month.

A spokesman for the DCMS says the work represents a clear departure from previous reports.

‘Because this is the first report since the last Election we wanted a more sophisticated, varied look,’ says the spokesman. ‘We cover a huge territory and wanted to reflect this in a range of different and unusual images and themes.’

The Sheffield-based consultancy was briefed to make the report ‘a celebration of culture’, says Iris account director Maria Vardy. ‘We’re working on an inspirational, uplifting montage that portrays the positive impact of DCMS across a wide-reaching audience.’

The project is being led by Iris creative director David Wood and senior designer Adam Peach, accompanied by a team of freelance photographers and illustrators.

Iris won the work last month following a three-way paid creative pitch against two unnamed London-based consultancies.

Iris has also been appointed to Sport England’s list of creative suppliers. Following a credentials pitch at the end of March, the consultancy will be working on as yet unknown print-based projects for the sports council.
