Birmingham-based photographer Richard Battye shows the results of spending 36 months photographing people for This England, from 1-5 October.

Venue: Music Room Gallery, 26 South Molton Lane, London W1.

Artist Kenneth Noland shows his work at New Circles, from 3 October until 3 November. Working with acrylic, Noland’s paintings are unprimed to achieve a raw quality. A catalogue with text by Matthew Collings accompanies the show.

Rachel Whiteread’s solo show arrives in Edinburgh on 29 September until 9 December. Her ghostly sculptures of domestic objects cast in resin, plaster and rubber are all on display.

If you didn’t dance with the crowds in London’s Notting Hill this year, make your way to Carnival in Motion. Entry is free on 28 September from 6.30pm-10.00pm. Carnival for All is a series of events and workshops on 29 September. Live performances from steel bands, Caribbean food and drink and lavish costumes bring the atmosphere of Carnival alive again.
