Olympics tenders on hold

London 2012 organisers will not launch design tenders until after the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, a spokeswoman for the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games has confirmed.

Locog will begin its procurement and tender processes for design and print material after the completion of the Beijing competition, although it has already kicked off the hunt for consultancies to redesign the London 2012 website.

However, the organising body is poised to unveil the Wolff Olins-designed brand identity and logo for the London games early this year. Wolff Olins began the project in March last year.

Separately, the Olympic Delivery Authority – the body responsible for the games infrastructure – says it is still in discussions to appoint Ricky Burdett as principal design advisor.
