The One Off fashions eco toys for Hapé

The One Off is designing and branding a range of eco-friendly toys made from bamboo for China-based toy firm Hapé International.

The range, titled Bamboo and featuring the tagline ‘Forming the Future’, will consist of about 50 toys in three sub-categories – creative play, classic games and toys, and babies’ playthings.

The One Off will design the toys, their branding, packaging and a marketing campaign in a royalties deal that managing director Adam Devey-Smith hopes will net it ‘a six-figure sum every year’.

Hapé president and general manager Peter Handstein originally appointed The One Off to rebrand his company in mid-2007, having met the group several years ago while both worked with the Early Learning Centre, says Devey-Smith.

During the project, The One Off suggested modifications to a dolls house that Hapé was working on. Devey-Smith claims this prompted Handstein to commission the group to design an entire range of toys.

The toys will appear at trade fairs in the next few weeks. The One Off is waiting for response from retailers before finalising branding and packaging.

The Bamboo range is to launch before Christmas.
