UK caravan parks set sites on shoppers

RPA Europe has developed Sunstore, a new shopping complex for holidaymakers staying at British Holidays caravan parks. The group handled naming, identity, graphics and interiors.

A prototype store opened last week in the Berwick-upon-Tweed park, and may be rolled out to all 20 British Holidays locations.

British Holidays, owned by Bourne Leisure, was looking for a retail concept which would encourage its customers to shop at the park, rather than before they arrive.

Half of the 550m2 Sunstore complex sells food, catering specifically to the needs of holidaymakers. It also features gift, music and children’s clothes sections, a café and a seaside-themed children’s play area.

RPA’s aim was to bring “a slice of the high street” to the park to meet shoppers’ expectations, says a consultancy spokeswoman.
