Presenting design for TV is clearly different

“What selection process was used for Better By Design?” asks David Crisp (Letters, DW 28 July). It seems obvious to me. Find a team of design professionals who can consistently engage/ inspire viewers with articulate thoughts that make the design process accessible to both the young and old.

Those unfortunate designers with “excellent creative track records” who featured in BBC2’s earlier Behind the Dome series will know only too well that while presenting design to clients is one thing, presenting design to a TV audience is quite clearly another.

Those interested in bringing design into the nation’s homes should applaud Seymour and Powell for advancing the cause, and save their bitching for the likes of Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.
