Dyson crosses new thresholds

Dyson Appliances confirms that it is investing heavily in research and development of new domestic appliances to join its current range of vacuum cleaners.

The company has played down reports that it plans to introduce a washing machine within the next five years, but confirms that new products are likely to be unveiled during that period, and could include a washing machine. A spokeswoman says that washing machines are “one of a long list of appliances” being looked into by the company.

Dyson Appliances founder James Dyson is heavily tipped to be one of the 11 winners of the European Design Prize 1997. The awards are being announced and presented in Paris tomorrow.
