Pontin’s camps it up with style

Gabriel Lewis architect and interior design consultancy is working on the 5.75m revamp of Pontin’s holiday centres as part of an 11m investment programme.

The upgrading is a bid to maintain Pontin’s reputation as a leading player in the UK holiday market and to prepare for future customer demand, says a Pontin’s spokeswoman.

The Guildford group’s new interior and exterior designs are being implemented at Brean Sands in Somerset, the location of Pontin’s first holiday camp when it opened 50 years ago.

Work is about to start at two further Family Favourite centres on the south coast at Camber Sands and Wall Park. They will be rolled out at Pontin’s 15 other sites over the next three years.

The designs include revamping public areas and upgrading chalets to “Club Class” and “Standard” with new bathrooms, kitchens and bedroom layouts.

“[Pontin’s] image in the market- place is constantly reviewed as part of the long-term programme,” says Pontin’s marketing manager Pamela Knight.

Pontin’s is owned by brewing and leisure group Scottish & Newcastle.
