Steers McGillan rebrands gallery

Bath design consultancy Steers McGillan has been appointed to work on a new brand image for Manchester City Art Galleries.

Introduction of the identity will coincide with the current £25m expansion and refurbishment of Manchester City Art Gallery, which is scheduled to reopen to the public in March 2002.

The consultancy was chosen from more than 50 submissions, which were shortlisted to five.

The new brand image is due to be launched in April 2001.

“It’s very much to do with people and bringing art and people together,” according to Steers McGillan director Chloe Steers. “Graphically, it will be linked to people’s experience in the gallery itself.”
