The best creatives dare to seem foolish

“Creativity” (Comment, DW 29 May) can be anything that is not “normal”. “Normal” can be anything that we do not find shocking, or anything that doesn’t make us stop and think.

If a designer were able to install a submarine astroport in the southern hemisphere, they would be sub-human. If they were to think about doing it, they would be creative. Like a lover, a creative dares to be a fool.

The paradox is that the best creative solutions don’t come into existence without absurdity, but they don’t work without “reality”, and “reality” limits possibilities.

Unfortunately, one can’t exist without the other – I think?
