Design consultancy Minale Tattersfield & Partners has created an identity for the Government’s new Community Legal Service, which aims to make legal help available to the masses.

The service has been developed by the Lord Chancellor’s Legal Services Commission, and replaces the now defunct Legal Aid Board.

MinTat’s brief was to create a modern design icon to communicate the accessibility of the service and its professional, legal stature. The identity incorporates the initials CLS in the form of the Lady of Justice, using free-flowing shapes to convey user-friendliness and strong colour.

Under the scheme, up to 30 minutes of free legal help will be available on the spot at solicitors’ offices, citizens advice bureaux and community law centres. Information points at supermarkets and leisure centres will feature leaflets using the new logo.
