WPP has identified that its branding and identity businesses were among the most successful across the group in the first quarter of 2016.

The results were delivered at WPP’s Annual General Meeting and revealed that total billings came in at £16.2 billion in the first four months of 2016, up 7.9% on the same time last year. Revenue was up 4.3% compared with the same period last year.

Branding and the UK

WPP consultancies in the UK include Brand Union, The Partners, Fitch, Coley Porter Bell, Landor and Lambie Nairn.

April of this year was a slower month and branding and identity groups were still caught up in this slow down, which WPP puts down to “a very strong comparative period” for the same time last year.

Overall the strongest sectors were branding and identity, advertising and media investment management, healthcare and specialist communications.

UK consultancies (across all business sectors) reported like-for-like revenue growth of 3.2% and net sales growth of 2.7% respectively.
