Torch to burn a hole in someone’s pocket

The 1936 Berlin Olympic torch is being auctioned by cerebral palsy charity Scope after being found in one of its clothes recycling bins. Sotheby’s will be auctioning it on-line at Sothebys.amazon.com during the forthcoming Olympics, where it is expected to fetch at least a four-figure sum.

The flame was carried by nearly 3000 runners between Greece and Nazi Berlin’s Olympic stadium in 1936, where it burned over the games famous for the Führer’s refusal to shake hands with American black athlete Jesse Owens, who won four gold medals.
