Cultural Olympiad provides opportunities for designers

Opportunities for designers have been highlighted in the upcoming Cultural Olympiad, which will run alongside the London 2012 Games

The Cultural Olympiad – the arts element of the games – will centre on nine major projects, covering film, theatre, music, art, museums and public spaces.

While some of these projects are being led by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games, which is tied into a contract with McCann-Erickson and stablemate Futurebrand to provide advertising and branding services, some are being led by partner organisations which will be free to choose the consultancies they wish to work with.

A spokesman for Locog says, ‘Most opportunities for designers will come from the partner-led groups.’

Opportunities highlighted include digital design for project Somewhereto, which helps young people access spaces for sport or art, and digital design for the World Shakespeare Festival. There is also the potential opportunity to design Cultural Olympiad’s Festival 2012 website.

Find out more about these opportunities in depth in the next issue of Design Week, out tomorrow.
