MTV: Redefine will exhibit and auction work by an international crop of creatives to mark 30 years of AIDS awareness.
The aim is to raise funds for the Staying Alive Foundation to encourage the prevention of HIV and AIDS through education.
Heavy weights Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Gavin Turk and Rankin will be joined by Stuart Semple, Sir Peter Blake, and Benjamin Shine.
Artist and designer Shine has reinterpreted Andy Warhol’s iconic self-portrait using 15m of pink tulle fabric which has been pressed, pulled and pleated.
The piece 15 Meters of Frame references Warhol’s ‘everyone will be world famous for fifteen minutes…’ quote and says Shine ‘is a great challenge but also a worthy excuse to experiment with colour and scale.’
Brroklyn based Faile, a collabrative banner for Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller, best known for their wheat pasting and stenciling technique; and Pam Glew who pioneers a flag bleaching technique with dying and stitching to distress materials will also feature.
Redefine runs from 16 September – 24 September as an exhibition in Dallas, Texas, after which 30 works will be auctioned in Dallas, Texas.
