Well, according to a new show at east London’s Jaguar Shoes, it will. The designers, illustrators and artists of creative agency No Way have teamed up with HUH magazine for an exhibition of works that explore the ‘2012 Phenomenon’.
This is the collective name for a pool of various beliefs that say that 21 December this year will be greeted with some monumentally massive events – perhaps the end of the world; perhaps the beginning of a new spiritual era, marking the end of a 5,125-year cycle.
Accordingly, the space has been transformed into a post-apocalyptic bunker, the surrounds of which the artists have drawn from to create their work. Each has responded to the events in an entirely personal way – for some, the bunker means solace or solitude; for others revelry; and for some, perhaps unsurprisingly, madness.
The 2012 Phenomenon runs until 29 May at Jaguar Shoes, 32-34 Kingsland Road, London E2
