Start crowned Design Week football league champs

Start Creative’s team Start Academicals has claimed the Design Week football league title after finishing a massive 10 points ahead of nearest league rivals Pearlfisher.

Start Academicals captain Michael Dorrian was presented with the trophy by Jawar Ali, from charity London Tigers, which the league supports, following the final round of matches on Monday night (23 February).

Dorrian says, ‘We were stingy at the back and played for each other throughout the team.’

‘We enjoyed the season immensely, it was a great laugh and we’re looking forward to getting together for celebratory drinks. We are already looking forward to next season and the defence of our title.’

Start Academicals had the tightest defence in Design Week League history, conceding only 10 goals, and defender Matt Smith picked up the player of the season gong.

Design Bridge striker William Hodgess finished with the golden boot after bagging 16 goals.

Defending champions FC Work were pipped to second place by Pearlfisher after losing 2-0 to Winkreative on the final night. Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, Future Brand finished last, with just seven points, despite putting five goals past mid-table Blue Marlin in their last match.
