Williams set to take lead role at Habitat

British designer Theo Williams is understood to be taking the helm as Habitat’s full-time head of design this September.

Williams, who is believed to be working with the retailer part-time, looks set to fill the void which was left when Tom Dixon assumed the part-time role of executive creative director (DW 8 July 2004).

Williams is former design director for the fashion brand Mexx and has previously been art director for Lexon Paris and creative director for Japanese department store Mono Comme Ca.

Originally founded by Terence Conran in 1964, Habitat currently has 72 stores in the UK, France, Spain and Germany and the retailer also has 17 franchised stores worldwide.
