Manchester museums mount joint branding push

Eight Manchester museums and galleries are to link their branding later this year in an initiative designed by Glorious Creative.

The venues involved are the Manchester Museum, the Whitworth Art Gallery, the Imperial War Museum North, Manchester Art Gallery, the Museum of Science and Industry Manchester, Urbis, the Lowry Gallery and the People’s History Museum.

The aim of the work will be to encourage resident and tourist visitors to go to a range of galleries across three boroughs – Manchester, Trafford and Salford.

The branding will be unveiled in the autumn, according to Glorious managing director Scott McCubbin.

‘We will be creating a flexible identity with an adaptable colour scheme which can fit in with the variety of venues,’ says McCubbin.

Glorious was appointed by a committee, The Museums Consortium Group, made up from executives from each of the galleries and museums.

The consultancy was appointed this month after taking part in a five-way creative paid pitch.
