Draught Associates in digital dance work

Draught Associates has designed the website for leading contemporary dance institution The Place, replacing a site the consultancy designed in 2006.

Appointed in March on the strength of the 2006 design, the consultancy developed a brief with The Place to create a website with separate areas for the four dance schools that operate under The Place banner – London Contemporary Dance School, the Richard Alston Dance Company, Place Prize and The Place Theatre.

Listings can be viewed and theatre bookings made on the new site. Choreographers can place advertisements and international applicants apply for courses online.

The redesigned site has increased capability, accommodating a larger format, bigger images and video content.

Michael Lenz, creative director at Draught Associates, says, ‘It’s an evolution of the old site, with up-to-date content, as well as increased legibility and clarity which makes the content more accessible.’

Lenz describes the site, which launches today, as ‘more accessible’, and says it will include information on ‘the theatre in location, the touring aspect of the company, and educational and artist development’.
