53K was set up at the start of the year and is a partnership between former AIG managing director de Graaf – who takes on the role of writer and editor – and creative director Garrett – who takes on the role of graphic designer, as well as managing partner Clare Kristensen, e-knowledge specialist Dr Paul Lefrère and designer and developer James Lefrère.

De Graaf says, ‘We’re looking to work in all fields of communications and work on how they are put together. The truth is that all of us consume information in lots of different ways and it’s important to give everything a single voice.’

For the project with Sarkar, 53K has developed a catalogue – published by charity the Loomba Foundation – and website for the exhibition, titled A Hidden Calamity, which is on display at the United Nations Building in New York until 12 July.

De Graaf says the consutlancy is now looking to help Sarkar bring the exhibition to the UK. He adds that 53k is also working on projects for an online wine retailer and a restaurant brand.

De Graaf says, ‘We’re working with premium brands and the kinds of digital projects we’re working on are heavily focused on user-experience and data visualisation.’
