Government launches Made by Britain manufacturing showcase

Business Secretary Vince Cable is set to launch the Made by Britain initiative, which will showcase manufacturing from across the UK.

Made by Britain will see each MP asked to nominate an example of manufacturing excellence from their constituency. This will be used to build up an online manufacturing map of the UK and there is a plan for a physical exhibition next year.

The initiative has been organised by the Associate Parliamentary Group and has received funding from the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851.

A total of 40 MPs have already submitted their nominations, which will be hosted on a website designed by consultancy Atomic Ant, which will go live next week.
