The former executive chef of London restaurant The Ivy has opened a restaurant in London’s Smithfield Market, with branding and interiors by GMT Design.
Mark Hix opened the Hix Oyster & Chop House last week, having appointed GMT in October last year following a credentials pitch.
‘For this new, independent restaurant, Mark briefed us to create a traditional flavour, partly to reflect his style of cooking, but also to reflect his perception of the Smithfield Market area of London,’ says GMT managing director Grant Smith.
‘He likes Parisian bistros and the general traditional feel of London markets, so our styling for the restaurant blends these two elements.’
The branding appears on the restaurant facia and all communications materials.
Hix oversaw restaurants Le Caprice and The Ivy for 17 years, as executive chef for Caprice Holdings.
