Design Museum takeover

While it works to install its upcoming sports exhibition Designed to Win, the Design Museum is closing its galleries but opening up its ground-floor space for a series of ‘takeovers’ by design consultancies, publishers and others.

All the events are free, so you can just turn up when you like and join in, but we particularly like the look of Unit Editions’ day on 13 July, devoted to Studio Culture, featuring roundtable interviews with Spin, Build, Julia and Bibliothéque.

Other events include the first #designbookclub, to be hosted by Kent Lyons on 18 July (follow @DesignMusShop to find out what the #designbookclub book is) and Taschen’s Julius Wiedemann in conversation with designer Sasha Vidakovic on 19 July on the future of digital publishing.

And we’re intrigued by ‘Brothers of the Stripe’ who are taking over the Design Museum café on 12 July to create a canteen battle scene in ‘The Great Brawl of China!’ – a live illustration event curated by The Concept Lounge.

The Design Museum Takeover runs from 12-23 July at the Design Museum, Shad Thames, London SE1. For more details visit designmuseum.org
