Print Club London re-creates classic film posters
Print Club London is creating a poster exhibition to coincide with Film4 Summer Screen at Somerset House, an outdoor cinema season.
The screen-printed posters will see 16 artists interpret the films in their own graphic style.
Many of the works are still in progress but the definitive list of artists and films is as follows: Anthony Burrill will work on The Way Way Back; Peter Strain – Carrie; Anthony Peters – Raising Arizona; Serge Seidlitz – Gremlins; and Kate Gibb – Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid.
Meanwhile Hvass & Hannibal will create a poster for Guys & Dolls; Joe Wilson – Throne of Blood; Rose Stallard – Badlands; Steve Wilson – The Untouchables; James Joyce – Baby Jane; Hattie Stewart – Mean Girl; Jess Wilson Predator; Michael Gillette Kes; Holly Wales – Red Shoes; MOL – Crazy Stupid Love; and HelloVon – Loved Ones.
We’re particularly enjoying Hattie Stewart’s Mean Girls makeover and Joe Wilson’s haunting depiction of a pupil-less stricken soldier for Throne of Blood.
Each will be produced in limited editions of 200, signed by the artists and sold for £40. They’ll be exhibited in the newly opened West Wing Galleries.
Print Club London: Summer Screen Prints runs from 1-21 August at West Wing Galleries, Somerset House, WC2
