Ian Styles joins Start as managing creative director

Start Creative has appointed Ian Styles as its new managing creative director, to work on ‘further digital integration’.

Replacing creative director Mike Dorrian, who has moved to Start’s Hong Kong office to head up creative, Styles says he will be ‘bringing digital to the pitch stage’. He adds, ‘Even at that stage, instead of using static boards, it’s important to demonstrate digital and bring it straight into the brand hierarchy.’

Styles, who started this week, has recently been working on freelance contracts for Moving Brands and Fitch. He was previously creative director at Roundel and set up his own digital consultancy, Mode, in 2001.

The appointment follows a three-month freelance contract with Start Creative, where Styles worked on pitching for new business.

Working with bands including Virgin and Adidas, Styles says he will be continuing Start Creative’s record in developing ‘multi-sensorial, digitally built brands’.
