Beef creates websites for Theatre Bristol

Digital consultancy Beef has designed a website for Theatre Bristol, and will be rolling out six sites across the South West for the company, which is looking to develop the theatre industry in the area.

Beef was appointed directly in July to design the Theatre Bristol site www.theatrebristol.net, and was briefed to provide a management system and revamp a series of other websites that act as support networks for the regional theatre trade.

Beef creative director Ben Hostler says, ‘We’ve made a bespoke management system, and introduced revenue streams and content. We’ve also made a series of nodes for other regions.’

Beef took the Bristol site through prototyping, functionality and user-testing, before beginning work on the other sites. As with the Bristol site, text surrounding logos has been stripped back, colour schemes adapted and photography used.

The first of the support sites – for Theatre Works (www.theatreworks.co.uk), covering Swindon, Bath, Wiltshire and Somerset – launched two weeks ago. Dance Theatre Cornwall’s site will go live on Tuesday, and Theatre Gloucestershire’s will appear in two weeks’ time.

The Arts Council-supported Theatre Bristol wants to roll out the websites nationally, and is in separate talks to pilot the scheme in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
