…So we can leave behind this male monoculture…

I think it is interesting that Design Week’s Laura Snoad refers to ’more traditionally minded professions’ in her Women’s Day blog piece looking at the role of women in the design industry today.

Sadly, I think the design industry is as traditionally minded as any other, despite the veneer of forward-thinking right-on-ness. The industry still adheres to an anachronistic working model forged in the 1980s by ad agencies run by blokes.

Once we have figured out a way to move on from these inflexible, old-fashioned ways of working, I think we’ll leave this white-male design industry monoculture behind.
