Tom Bewick to step down as Creative & Cultural Skills chief

Tom Bewick, group chief executive of Creative & Cultural Skills, is leaving to join business council Enterprise UK.

Bewick, who co-founded CCS with Tony Hall in 2004, will leave at the end of March to take up the role of chief executive at Enterprise UK.

Bewick says, ‘It’s a real wrench to be leaving, but I am very excited to be continuing my campaigning approach in a new role, and one which is highly relevant to the creative sector. My new employer will make an announcement in due course.’

David Worthington, acting chairman of CCS, says, ‘On behalf of the trustees and staff I would like to thank Tom for his enormous contribution to the sector’s skill needs.

‘We owe a huge amount to his strong leadership and tireless campaigning on behalf of the creative and cultural industries, and our new licence from Lord Mandelson and UK ministers is testement to that.’

A CCS statement says the organisation will continue to be led by the board of trustees and a strengthened senior management team in 2010.
