Getting your parents’ unwanted presents out every time they come to stay is deceitful, but good for relations.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport unfortunately forgot to do the same for Trevor Baylis’ Freeplay clockwork radio, given to Culture Secretary Chris Smith but now sitting on sports minister Tony Banks’ desk.

A tour guide explains: ‘Trevor Baylis – you know, that guy who has the One-to-One with Frank Whittle – gave the radio to Chris Smith… Tony Banks said he liked it, so Chris gave it to him.’

DW wonders if the silver inscription ‘To Chris Smith from Trevor Baylis’ will be discreetly modified.
